hey everyone, thanks for the well wishes, I'm quite touched with responses.

Fortunately its not cancer, as I originally suspected. I have a condition called Achalasia https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/achalasia/ .
Achalasia is a rare disorder of the food pipe (oesophagus), which can make it difficult to swallow food and drink.
Normally, the muscles of the oesophagus contract to squeeze food along towards the stomach. A ring of muscle at the end of the food pipe then relaxes to let food into the stomach.

In achalasia, the muscles in the oesophagus do not contract correctly and the ring of muscle can fail to open properly, or does not open at all. Food and drink cannot pass into the stomach and becomes stuck. It is often brought back up.

The symptoms have gradually gotten worse over the last 18months. I won't share these, but they have been quite impactful in many ways. I realised how much eating and drinking plays in our life. During that time I had a range of tests etc to determine what it was.

Good news is that an operation can provide a work around to it and stop the symptoms. I got offered a last minute operation slot last Friday, but couldn't do that. so hopefully one comes soon.
I keep adding weight on my max hangs , but losing more weight quicker than I can add. :devangel:

Silver linings and all that, I'm down to the weight I was when I was 22. So hopefully this time around I can get to around 78kg and keep it in check.

Not as bad as it could be, but still doesn;t sounds great. I think my uncle is suffering with this right now, getting some sort of "balloon" of some sort inserted to try and expend the constriction? I can find out more if you want. Wish you luck with the op.
