Bring out your dabs

good effort on Superman CP, I know how it feels to have a hard tick undermined by some failure on an easier problem :)

Jesus christ Stone, if you don't like the thread stop reading it. As you acknowledge, you've made your opinions on it clear several tens of times. Shockingly, others have a different view to you.

I don't know CP outside the forum but I think its fair to say he's not averse to a bit of online pisstaking (I'm sure he would acknowledge this). I've been on the end of it and have worn it. I'm aware hes very strong but that to me made it funnier that hes started a problem he could probably campus a couple of moves in.

The only one attempting to wield the sword of righteousness is you, repeatedly, until we all die of boredom.
Not exactly true, i have many times tried to lighten the thread by poking fun at the High Judges of The Dab{So Stone is Not alone}.
Also i dont really weild the sword of righteousness as deepthroat the pommel in the hope i might reach the hilt, i hope this image is less boring for you 😁

If I remember correctly, I saw that it started there from an Ash video, although that was from sitting.

Take the piss all you like I find it quite funny, just be aware I'm not Apefoo'ing my way up the boulder and its a number grade below my limit.
Maybe you skipped the first 10 secs of the vid?

Congratulations on all your climbing success 😁

Maybe what they’re getting at cp is that it doesn’t matter if it’s a number grade below your limit. Problems start from where they start. I’ve had to go back to problems when I started in the wrong place ( incorrectly informed via a vid exactly as you were ). It is what is and I’d rather know than take a tick for something I haven’t done. This is particularly true for something on your doorstep that’s an easy visit.

I More meant that it doesnt really matter to me. Doing climbs like that is just training and about enjoying quality, of which the move I missed detracts if anything. Maybe I'll go back one day, but for now it will remain a mega project.

I'll edit the title so it doesnt mislead anyone.

Whatever people's motivation is, I greatly appreciate publicly posted bouldering videos. Thanks to everyone who posts them.

It pisses me off when threads like this discourage public posting.
I think this a) vastly over estimates the influence of a tiny bouldering forum and b) is based on zero evidence apart from a chat you had with a guy at a crag one time.

No, on a couple of occasions, women I bumped into at the crag talked about it. People on here also heckle at people about dabbing on instagram. This thread is at the forefront of a wider culture of publicly mocking slipups in bouldering videos.

The size of the forum is irrelevant when someone is directly questioning the intent of somebody in a conversation. While not large scale, it could be enough to stop an indiviual posting harmless content that could be useful to others.

Things said here don't bother me and I'll continue to post what I like, but its evident that it could stop others. People sharing beta is such a weird thing to be upset about.

I guess I think this has been done before on this thread and the tldr is it's something people disagree on. I accept your point of view is valid but I don't agree. I'm not convinced you/stone think that about my view, but maybe I'm wrong?

I'm definitely not upset by videos of people dabbing or starting in the wrong place, it just makes me laugh when I see it and the thread sprang up as a mildly amusing way to pass the time on the Internet. No more, no less, for me anyway. But I think piss taking is a perfectly healthy bit of culture as a whole, never mind just climbing culture.

OK, but we're still talking a very small subset of people (unless you're insistently bringing it up as a topic of conversation at every opportunity). Anyway, we aren't going to change each others mind so there's probably little point in relitigating it. I maintain that not everything on social media has to be, or indeed should be, relentless praise. Plenty of that on insta for those that way inclined. If UKB is somewhere where people actually critique stuff posted on the Internet for public consumption, that's fine by me.

I fully agree that dabbing videos are funny, which can and should be posted here. But questioning somebodies intent over posting is just goofy, especially in this case when the video in question is simply for beta/showing off the problem, as if there is some kind of ulterior motive.

Stone has a point about that sort of thing putting people off.

That's interesting. I don't think you and stone agree at all in that case! What do you mean by questioning intent?

I appreciate publicly posted videos that show climbs done correctly. Videos with dabs or starting in the wrong place or doing eliminates wrong or whatever just perpetuate those mistakes for people that don't know otherwise.
