I don't like Riot Act. Firstly there's already a famous problem called Riot Act in the Frankenjura. Secondly it's a cliche (but not in an ironic way) and sounds like a name for a 3rd rate action movie (but not in a good way). "Rhylstone Riot Act" is slightly more acceptable. Plus I'm now bored of routes/problems named after people. "Peahound" is attractive, but doesn't seem to fit the stature of the line. There, that just about pisses on everyone's fires.

Lanny Bassham (would make for an interesting section in future guidebooks). In fact in 1000 years time people may even believe that Lanny was the first ascentionist).

Is ascentionist a word?

This is good, rather than desperatly trying to come up with 1 semi-decent name I now have hundreds to choose from.

I kinda felt this way, but thought it was worth having a normal type name rather than all fruit/animal related stuff.

I think it is between Lanny Bassman and Peahound although anything Tom suggests is good and he has a proven track record of quality route names (Lets get dead etc)

Pulsedog, beanwolf, chickpea hyena...
see, all good

I think May suggested 'Ladders and Bridges' (and a few weeks ago when looking at a photo of it 'Grey Crack') and it pays to keep her happy.

Like that one, Ben.

I always find that the origins of a routes name to be the very interesting, and I think that would work well too, as it adds a personal dimension (perhaps).

Hope you're keeping a note book of potential names for all the projects you're likely to crush (although this thread in and of itself is such a record!).
