Usain Bolt just busted the 200m record wide open with 19.30secs, beating Michael Johnson's (or as a woman in my office said, "Michael Jackson's") previous best.

And he won the race by a fucking mile. Seriously. at least a good half a second, about 5 metres.

And he actually looked like he was trying this time, and ran more than 80% of the distance!

I'd be gutted if it did turn out to be doping, but you've have gotta wonder if the jamacians have sussed some kinda new undetectable drug (like THG that the yanks used for years) what with their women runners also kicking ass, and obvisouly Bolt is running so fast it looks like everyone else is running backwards.

I notice BTW that the americans are doing fuck-all this time round.

Perhaps the physical exertion in the first portion of the race knackers him and he can't physically go full out for the full distance, and to an extent uses momentum to carry him through

If the there is a strong head wind down the final 100 straight, you have a little wind behind you(lessening as you start to run across it) for the first 50m of the 200metre race. And go into a little wind(increasing) on the next 50m until you are heading directly into the head wind on the home straight. The last 100 is straight into the wind.

Only distances in multiples of 400 metres have no sum wind effect. Although running in high wind will result in a slower time than no wind at all. And don't call me surley......
