Have been using nero 6 for many years now, its works really well and is simple for me to use
Have tried nero 7 and 8 and they just seem very bloated with useless stuff that I don't need or want
Any other good recomendations for a simple but effective cd/dvd burning software to do cds,dvds, cd rom and dvd rom?

One of the things I use is Burn4Free.  I like it as it does .iso burns well, plus most other things you may need.  And it's free.  Never failed me yet.

There's usually cut down versions of Nero about, with just Burning Rom, etc.
