You say not much you can do wrong but that depends how basic you are. There are a few different pockets to choose from after all.
I nearly did it first go by just pulling really hard. It felt quite nasty on the skin. Then I realised that if I moved my right foot up to one of the higher pockets once I had right hand on the heart the move over to the bottom of the crack was much less about pulling hard and more about body position and balance. Basic and obvious but it made it a lot nicer. To each their own though, I like crimping.
