filed in alphabetical order by band then by album within bands.
What!
Alphabetical by band, sure, but then albums must be chronological obviously.

Compilation albums and re-issues mess this system up, whereas alphabetisation is solid.

:agree: chronology is important, you couldn't have Metallica's Load sat next to Master of Puppets

GCW - No.

Reissues go with the original date, compilations their own release date. There is no justification for alphabetising by album name.

Genre is way to woolly andi, shame on you!

I keep Load locked away in the cellar, so that isn't a problem.

I've had my system for over 30 years and I'm too stuck in my ways to change now.  Besides, all of my The Sisters of Mercy singles and bootlegs would make a mockery of the order.

Andi, do you use the iTunes genres?

Yeah, this is true. Generally it's very broad ("stuff with guitars", "stuff with rapping", "stuff with electronic instruments", "stuff with no beat" and so on) but the system's not perfect. If I had some rap-metal for example, what would I do with that? Thankfully though I have no rap-metal.

Is correct Grammar an OCD type thing? (I dont really care myself) - do you grammar police types line all your tin cans up facing the right way in the cupboard etc....?

I'm quite positively un-OCD. Quite messy in fact.

People making mistakes doesn't bother me so much; we can't all be perfect all the time (I rarely am). The one that gets me most annoyed is when people try to use different language because they feel that plain language sounds...I don't know -  less businesslike? (i.e using myslef feels more intellectual than me, even when me is the correct word).

Also, I'm learning French just now which is making me think a lot more about English grammar...

Careful, you'll start something about apostrophes as well!

Yup. VIBGYOR is the only way. With white at one end and black at the other.

Otherwise my life is total chaos.

Ali, I think this might help you get round to their way of thinking. Sorry Imagineering.

Best place for it (was the last album of theirs I ever bought  )

I hate bad grammar.  People using me and I in the wrong way irks me, especially when people are trying to be posh with their "you and I" when it should be "you and me".

Yes. Once I learnt this http://oxforddictionaries.com/words/i-or-me it's pretty easy to get it right and makes it much more annoying when people get it wrong.

It's risible, misusing words to try to sound clever. ''Comprendez?''

Mine are in the loft (but still sorted correctly so they can be found if required  :geek: )

One thing I noticed with regards to myself being used incorrectly, when you use MS Word to type a document, the daft auto correct always suggests changing it to myself, thus making it incorrect. It should be renamed, auto incorrect. Total non-quality.

When did "Valentine's Day" become "Valentine's"?

It makes it sound like an ongoing festival or something - like Christmas.

[And don't get me started on "St Patrick's Weekend"]

They're all just euphemisms for the generic term "Clinton Cards Day".
