Reality is slowly dawning that in 2 weeks time I will be off to Arizona for 2 weeks. Not as strong as i would like to be, but also not (currently) injured, so hoping to get some good climbing done.

we are flying into Vegas and will be at Red Rocks for a couple of days before doing a bit of driving around seeing sights and doing some bouldering, trad and sport.

I have downloaded all the topos from drtopo.com, got the Falcon Guide, so got a rough idea of what's there, but looking for some recommendations of specific routes and probs if anyone has been? Grades up to low .10s and up to V4/5 ish. Don't plan on going much south of Phoenix and probably staying with friend in Flagstaff for a bit to cut down on driving and hopefully get some cool(er) conditions.

I've never been but its got to be worth checking our The Draw if only for some Rampage ticks. you can tape your forefingers together, top out some roofs feet-first and meet some bucktoothed hicks. its look well weapon.

Will probably go check out the Draw, as it is pretty close to Flagstaff, but there was a recent article in US Climber that said it's pretty limited, not much worth doing below V6, and it's all pretty burly. Some nice things to have a play and fail on though.

Why I think we are planning on doing some shady routes at RR. My girlfriend has been before, so has a couple of routes she has had here eye on, and I have never benn, so keen to check it out. Might try and get an everning session on those boulder though (is that Kraft Rocks?)

can't remember whether them photo's are of kraft boulders or kraft are a hike up the hill. guy with headband (g-unit?) is on a clockwork orange, v12 with a v10 to its left, ie arete on it's dark side so should be easy to work out with guide. approach is a level 5 mins. not extensive but def worth a look if in the area

was in phoenix some years ago, about this time of year and it was insanely hot, really hot into late in the night and super humid.. great place though.. nice vibe and a couple of excellent secondhand record shops if thats your thang! also supposed to be loads of quality bouldering that doesnt really get any mention outside of arizona.. some arizonians I met whilst in bishop were raving about some sandstone crags down there.. apparently much better than other areas.. including the draw.. I'll try and find out more..

Cheers. I know Phoenix will be pretty hot, apparently stuff around Flagstaff and Prescott is a bit higher, so hopefully not too shweatty.

Black velvet Canyon, and Aeon wall would be my choice, when I was there my lap dancing pro climbing G friend would only Sport climb and boulder,,, twas gay.
