Voyager sit start
March 15, 2007, 02:10:48 pm
I got hold of a copy of winter sessions yesterday and was suitably impressed, however i don't know if its my eyes but on the Moon sit start of Voyager it doesn't look like he starts with his arse on the floor but it is credited as a sit start. I'm not trying to take away from this climb as it is obviously crazy hard and a sweet line to boot. is there somethin i dont know or should i just give it another watch.

He doesn't start sitting - but he obviously does climb the line in it's entirety. Sitting down just for the sake of it would be a bit pointless IMO, and probably would only add half a shit move.

Actually, I don't think it adds any moves if you sit on the ground. Makes no odds.

so if it doesn't add half a crap move, then why wasn't it started on the floor?

Makes no odds.

I have to argue with that - maybe it makes no difference on this problem but for many other problems out there getting your arse off the floor is the hardest bit and a crouching start definately makes things easier.

for a pedantic fucker like myself, i think its an important distinction to make. sit start implies the last thing to leave the floor is the arse

Maybe it's because if you sit down you'll roll off down the hillside...

Perhaps Ben's got piles that a sit-start would aggravate?  Or maybe on the day of the send he had excessive flatulance that made sitting down impossible but did allow him to float serenely to the start of the problem like a beatific air-hockey puck.

Everyone knows sitting on cold ground (even with a bouldering pad) can play havoc with the Grapes of Wrath.

Remember Nobby's Piles From Viz?

Yeah, I've always considered Viz to be an accurate and scientific source of medical information.

LOL!  I still smile at the mere mention of the name Johnny Fart Pants.

That did answer my question about why he didn't go backwards arse over tit.  It'd be that french sit start, or starting it from sitting with a dab.  Anyway, he just did a lower start worthy of a new problem and called it Voyager Sit Start, it's the name not its clasification.  You can't criticise people for calling things wrong when they post videos of themselves showing exactly what they've done.  If anyone wants to start this lower and lower) a la The Press then have it.
