It's true what they say about pets, they do help you recover from stuff
after my back surgery the two little mites really did help me mend just by being the and snuggling up to me as I lay on the sofa and thought of the long summer holiday going to waste with trips to font and llanberis amongst others cancelled (sigh) 

to be fair the the missus I wasn't 100% convinced about getting them, never had pets as a kid, but she was so right I love them to bits, and yep they certainly keep my blood pressure down when the kids are acting like little scrot's at school

and in the true spirit of the title of this tread loki has just chewed his way through the plastic strap (the ones on girls tops so they can be hun on a hanger) on the missus' gym top!

My cat Loki is wandering around the house meiowing to let everyone know shes around and still hungry, having just woken me up by scratching the door continuously.  The other one Shiva has crept into the bed and is curled up enjoying the now vacated warm side of the bed.  One is so quite, the other so f**king noisy.  But they're such characters I wouldn't change them for the world.

I find that Shiva does the chewing of things, be they iPod headphones, mobile phones or cereal boxes.  But Loki is such a fitting name for a cat I think.

My stick insects are hanging off bits of privet, doing their best to look like sticks until it gets dark when they will start stomping round their tank (no, not a tank with guns and wheels), eating leaves and generally looking like sticks that can walk, eat, shit and lay eggs.

Note: I did not choose to have stick insects.  Some woman donated them to my school and since I'm the soft bastard that I am, I've ended up looking after them all (all three generations of them so far).  I took them home from school one holiday and my girlfriend thought they were so cool we ended up with a tank full at home too.  I also look after the insects at home, as well as at school.  There is a lesson there but I'm not sure what it is.  All I know is that now I have to clean out and feed two tanks full of insects that I didn't want.  Granted they are easy to care for, but without careful birth control we would be over-run with the fuckers.  Luckily, they can be left alone at home for a week, so a short trip to Font does not require the arranging of babysitting duties.
