Has your modem ever worked on a broadband connection?
Not sure. Have tried two brand new modems now though. Also, as I said above, it works perfectly on some websites.
The sync light on the modem - is it on, off or flashing? If on or flashing is this constant or intermittent?
I presume you mean the DSL light rather than the data light? When connected it is on steadily. The data light flashes intermittently.
Have you tried plugging straight into the master socket and/or using a new microfilter?
I haven't tried a direct connection as this would involve moving the pc into an awkward spot. I have tried several different extensions and microfilters though, with no change in results.
Other things to consider are:
If your provider has provided you on a BT Up to 8 Mb product, the service will generally be poor for the first 10 days of service while the equipment at the exchange 'trains up' to the characteristics of your line
Interesting - didn't know that. Hopefully the equipment at the exchange isn't 'training up' to only access the metoffice...
