Le Bourrinoire (Haute Savoie) France
December 02, 2006, 05:41:34 pm
Anyone know anything about this area? Where abouts it is? Topo?

Fred Rouhling seems to have done lots of cool stuff here and my Dad lives in Annecy which is in the Haute Savoie area, just wondering if it was remotely close.

Cheers David

i've been. there is a topo in the vallee du grife guide. however i found it hard to work out where the problems went even with the topo. its a series of caves at the bottom of a huge cliff, stays dry in the rain.it might be a bugger to find without going with someone whos been before.
the rock is a sort of sandstone conglomerate and i imagine its an aquired taste.my mate who lives about 5 miles away from the crag would drive 40 miles to the wall in preference to climbing there.

Might be a better bet. Webbo has been and I think others too. Search on this site for more some pics.

Word to the Medonnet tip.  It's pretty cool, rough on the fingers and reasonably extensive in a lovely setting.  There's two threads about it and other nearby alpine venues (like les Bossons) on UKB and some photos floating around in the ether too.

it looks loads better on the video than i remember it being.there was loads of old mattress dumped underneath and someone had been lighting fires everywhere.it looked like there had been a dossers convention there.

Not to be pedantic, but i think Soumission gets 8B+/c  (ie. 8B+ bloc grade and 8c route grade). Looks like a cool place though, shame to hear it's a bit pikey.

Surely an 8B+ boulder would be harder than an 8c route - or were you joking?

May French aint that good, but the google translation is:

Quote
By a beautiful day, not sunny from the whole, one went to turn with the Romano on the side of old projects outstanding. Assessment a beautiful cross in Bourrinoire with Tender: A line which scoffs at the ceiling of the second cave and continues until the réta, enormous… It is hyper physical, with a painful finger and hair that happiness, an incredible roof in 8b+/8c.

I do like "a line which scoffs at the ceiling"!
