V13 confirmed, apparently. He top roped it, same as Steve - not that I'm making any judgements about ground up ethics, the top out looks well scary.

A fine effort, especially considering the early summer temperatures.

Hat's off to the spoon, was he up there early mornings or what? Gotta be in anyone's top five grit highball lines.

Sweet! Saw him working it a couple of weeks ago - think he had a go that evening but fell off near the top. It was so hot and sticky then, it must have been real early when he did it to get any sort of conditions. Bon Effort.

Good eff the spoon. Whilst it looks well hard, and I'm not disputing the V13 grade, I'm constantly amazed that anyone can grade anything on grit in summer. I can think of very few problems on grit that aren't significantly easier in the proper cold.

it was a sterling effort, and sent mid afternoon - there was a nice breeze, but still pretty warm. I think he just really wanted it, and pulled it down!
(took some air though, going for the pocket, and well tested the 'evilpad')
also hats off to steve D :-)

Also a hats off to ben, great line.  On the weather issue, it's not been that hot, I know it was record temp in London, but it was only in the teens this weekend round here and Caley is in the shade.  So not ideal conditions, but not 30 degrees in the sun with no wind.

Sorry guys but I don't know the story of this boulder/trad route

Did Steve Dunning climb it top rope first or with gears and gave it E11?

Or did he climb it as an highball?

Did Ben repeat it as an highball boulder (without toprope), after trying it toprope?

SD top-roped it first and then climbed it as a highball boulder problem above pads.

BM top-roped it first and then climbed it as a highball boulder problem above pads.

Sort of stated in Panty's first post...

Old pic of Steve Dunning on it

From Moon Industries which also promises a video (but it's not there yet)

If you've never seen it "in the flesh" as it were, then that pic doesn't make it look as high, steep and scary looking as it is in real life.

I like the new Moon site though - much better than last time I looked.

should we be sad and try to ID the crag being climbed on on the homepage?

my guess is Gardom's South??

Edit - just looked in photo gallery, it's Eagle Tor...

Think it changes each time you log on, quite a fancy new site. School bit sounds like a good idea.

Vid of High Fidelity is now in the videos section.

Hi Fidelity vid impressive. Also, interestingly, new vid up on his site of Spoon on Underworld at Earl - does it without the block on the left (still at 7c+), which now makes Underworld a proper problem. I always thought the block made the problem a bit flawed.

I watched the film last night very good.  The "nice breeze" blowing across the crag seemed to be more of a gail though, looking at how much the trees in the background are being blown about.

Re: underworld.  What does the problem straight up from the block that was used for underworld get?
