So the Government seems minded to push this through, so the question is are you prepared to

1. pay directly for the priviledge?
2. pay indirectly via taxation for the rest of your natural?
3. attend for compulsary fingerprintinting, facial scanning and iris scan (oh and probably wait for about 4 hours while you're there?

Me, f--k off, I know who I am, well most of the time.

i don't give a toss either way. Although i do think its the usual government tactic of addressing the problem not the cause, closing the stable door after the horse has shat all over the place and then bolted stanage.

Not really bothered, although I don't particularly want to shell out for one like...
Haven't they had them in Yerp (France at least) for ages without much hassle?

I very much dislike the idea on principle. I don't have anything to hide but that doesn't mean I wish to pay for a card to prove who I am. Why isn't a passport or driving licence enough. Who is supposed to benefit from this? Although I don't have any strong specific objections to their use as envisaged at present, I can think of future scenarios where I might very well suffer. Who knows what situations may exist in 20 or 30 years time (by which point the ID card would be well established and unchangable).

against.

as thugjoy says - what's wrong with passport or driving licence etc? or will an ID card supercede these into one information supercard? it all seems a little sinister. 'choice' is obviously no longer an option.

as sloper says, i have a pretty good idea who i am already thank you very much.

Its all a thinly veiled plot to track our every movement. Once they introduce the cards how long before you'll be required to use them to gain access to public buildings, before they integrate your bank cards with them and give them proximity sensors - not only will they know where you are but also what you are doing!

I intend to conceal myself as a giant goose.

Quote from: "Bible"
"He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark.... so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666" (Rev. 13:16-18).

Got any spare goose suits yoot?

Alright, alright! You can have a Duck one instead if you prefer. Can't see what's so wrong with the Chicken suit though  .
