the terrace @ burbage north
May 13, 2005, 12:29:34 pm
Had a play out on this whilst in Sheffield last week, in between eating plaster dust and breathing paint fumes. Am I right in thinking that it starts on the low undercut inside the cave? Has it also been done from a low left hand start? Any tips gratefully received.

sit starts right on thundercut and left on something on the arete with left heel round arete. can't think there's room for any alternative starts etc.

A low start is certainly possible from the left, using a tiny pocket and the chipped/ improved dish type thingy

isn't it illegal to climb on the grit this time of year?

That sounds remarkably like the normal start position. Perhaps you were trying an alternative RH start.

think that's what you start with your left hand on, right on the thunderpantscut.

grit is perfectly legal at this time of year beefy. you just need to have vision.

i just douse myself in petrol and set fire to myself before climbing. this solutions ensures the midges NEVER bother me.

try it.

theres deffo no start further left than the normal start on terrace, or you'd not be on the arete. the chipped/improved dish (i.e. the not-chipped bulletwound) is about 2 moves into the normal way anyway!

Thanks gents. Back down there on Sunday and hoping to spend more time bouldering and less time on the property ladder, so if you see an old git with a dog lurking beneath The Terrace come and say hello.

do you think it's the fire or the smoke that keeps the little buggers under control?
