Whats the Best Problem on Grit?

What do people think?  Did Spare Rib at Stanton Moor yesterday and it certainly gets my vote. Awesome! Apparently Bad Moon Rising at Thorn Crag isn't bad either.

I was going to say Not to be Taken Away, but I think its Brad Pitt - a neo classic if ever there was cause to use such a ridiculous phrase.

Good question. I would vote for any of:

Not To Be Taken Away
Jason's Undercling
Deliverance
Jerry's Arete (Stride)

Pretty predictable i know. I haven't seen Spare Rib yet (maybe this weekend?) but a vid i saw looked awesome.

Dave, you're clearly wrong cos none of those are in Yorkshire!

My current favourite is the dyno at Clattering Stones.

My favourite subject! Only a pity some of the best looking don't climb as well as they look (eg Cocoa team special, rylstone). Off the top of my head, top 10:

Ben's groove from sit down, Caley
The Alliance, Burbage south
West side story,
Deliverance,
Shirley's shining temple, all at Stanage
Terry, Caley
Layby arete, Slipstones
Clever skin, Baldstones
China in your hands, Gardoms south
Careless torque

Have done em all but the last move of the last- don't think its safe to comment just on looks. Some of em are a bit highball but thats what grits all about!

I could certainly go with Careless Torque, probably the bit of rock i would most like to climb in the whole world.

Good point Johnny Brown - Cocoa Team looks like the greatest problem on God's Earth, but to climb its a boring one move lock off on a sharp pocket - yawn...

The real meat has to be:

Spare Rib
Bad Moon Rising
Deliverance
NBTA (pre-polish)
Others...

Although possibly the best is still unclimbed and awaits my ascent...

(P.S. Jason's Undercling!!!!)

NTBTA isn't really pollished is it? not on the Crack-and-Corner scale anyway, and i don't think it changes the experiance any.

You are right though, Jay's Undercling is da bomb.

I think its polished!

I think the last thing I wrote was a bit confusing, let me clear it up:

there's an unclimbed project (somewhere??) which is amazing both to look at and climb.

"Jason's Undercling!!!" is an expression of dismay that anybody could think that this is one of the best problems on grit! Sorry...

Jason's Undercling is first division quality wise not premier league.
Cypher at slipstones looks pretty damn classic.

I've said it before and i'll say it again - i go with the slopey overhanging aretey thing left of the dyno problem at the Newstones - the word 'Class' does not do that problem justice (anything that involves such a non-hold looking hold like that problem has gotta be good!)

yeah its the arete from a slot low down. I think the problems to its left are better, nice face/slabby problems, quite easy but quite cool.

On the subject of Alaska ...

I only realised what climbing was actually about when someone ponted that out and told me to get hold of it.

It's not the hardest, but grown 'men' will weep when trying it because if all you've done is buy endless krabs, climb vs in summer and wear a watch that is over functioned and over sized you'll never work it out.

All the problems you've ever done before you finish Alaska are just ladders, and all the ones you do after start getting interesting.

maybe we should define 'best' a little bit better rather than let it rest at showing off each other's tick list (or dream tick list I suspect).

What the hell is Bobblehead on Stanton?
My project is getting close to some of the best moves and rock on grit.
No I won't tell you where!
