You guys have got to work on your landings! My trip was excellent, I am really stoked with the new board. Had two good days in Les Gets/Morzine, an OK day in Avoriaz (crowded!!) two awesome days in Praz de Lys, A good day half day on skis in Les Gets (had mellow morning snowshoeaing and checking out ice climbing potential), Excellent day in Les Contamine, an OK day on Grand Montet (good terrain, but hard pack and icy) and the last day lying in bed with food poisoning. Unfortunately the only video we got was of us playing on a kicker we built in the back garden.

Played on a kicker we built on a hillside last Sunday here in Aberdeenshire, might try to get to one of the Scottish resorts this weekend.

JB, don't get too excited, you've seen most of the footage already but if you do wanna have a look Media Player Classic will also play it if you don't want to install the behemoth Media Player 10.

Classic is available as part of K-Lite Codec Pack 2.34 Standard (5mb) (or full or mega) from http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/mirror.htm along with lots of other tasty downloads from the ever useful Edske.

Glad you liked em Cowboy, I was going for the cheesetastic look from that high quality prog Windoze MovieBreaker2. It's great if you don't mind it locking up ever five minutes. I really must get my hands on some proper editing software at some point...

Cheers

As for the slough slides, us? Naah - that was the complete donkey who'd been down there before us - see from the second pic where he'd traversed right accross the slope - then turned back into the path of the slide IN TWO PLACES - dim. Then chosen to ride down the gulley instead of the beautiful safe(ish) shoulder that we did.

Nic was well solid in his guiding. We spent about an hour sussing the line we took on that face - climbing out onto the aretes to get a good view of the face etc. The avalanche risk was pretty high - 3 - but nic reckoned higher on this face.

Quite a few people have been killed so far this season - Big off piste lines - but not wearing transceivers - Duh.

Overall - quite an adventure. I'll post up some of the other lines we did tonight.

allright Sam

Seeing as I'm soon to become a dad and that, I thought the most important thing to do was sort out my snowboarding gear. Your ancient and almost totally unused Oxbow board has been eternally condemned to the cellar and I'm a fully blown Burton Gimp now. I'd best make use of the next 6 weeks then.

Geezer - so have you still got it then - I was ruing the fact that I thought you'd left it in the states just last week.

Wouldnt mind it back at some stage - even if it is just for posterity really.

Hows it all going with you lot - got yer card cheers. Pity you cant make the big day like.

So which Burton did you fall for.

As if i'd chuck it away... the very idea. I don't know why I havnt given it back. Guess I like the colour or summutz.
a pal gave me his Canyon 162, only a couple of years old I think... Going to a nearby small(with a lift though) hill on Sunday and then tekkin it out for the weekend the weekend after. Then thatl be it I rekin.
We have bought a push chair and that, so I'm not being totally irresponsible..

I had a Canyon 162 for two seasons in the US and loved it. If anyone has a couple of grand to spare this seems to be the cheapest spot for heliskiing http://www.eladv.com/heliskiing/index.htm (check "Russia" section) Just over two grand for 6 days, excluding flight to Moscow. Guarenteed 25 000 m of vert!!!!

No worries cowboyhat, I've fixed it for you - you need to link to the actual image, and not the page that displays it....

Just went to the burton site to check out their new graphics for this year and the picture they're using as wallpaper was enough to get me psyched to get out this year!

Hmmm, likewise I'm mildly kicking myself for not buying my dream board while in the states. I could have got a 2005 Burton Custom X for 300 bucks, about £180. The facts that a) I couldn't fit it in a bag, b) I don't really 'need' a new snowboard and c) I already had bought bargainous items such as a top of the range wetsuit (£65 there, £180 here), RED helmet with built in headphones (£45 there, £100 here) and a new skimboard, all meant 'sensible' head won out....still not sure I made the right decision... :?

Toby, if I was you I would be crying into my soup. Sadly my Baron is not going with me to NZ, due to crappy baggage restrictions on Quantas. My only consolation is that there doesn't appear to be much snow in NZ, so will probably hire a board for a couple of days, or maybe fork out some cash for a day heliboarding, instead of a few days boarding in slush.

Off to Portes du Soleil from 24th December to 3rd Jan, so lets hope France has a good early season.
