I was riding my Madrid 'Mike Sola' street deck around Manchester with Indies and Santa Cruz wheels with a curly mullet, learned to surf on holiday, played the bass in a sh*t metal/punk band, was listening to Kill 'em All, Live Undead, Out of Step, PE's Yo Bumrush The Show, with my mates and Joni Mitchell with my first long-term girlfriend.

I didn't climb at all apart from the odd bimble around Tryfan with my Dad.

i had a santa cruz deck at the time after snapping a featherlite one on the first day i got it. was well into my hippity hop, finding out about the laydeez and generally being a little bit insecure. played b-ball approx 90% of my waking hours and wore clothes that still fit me to this day. didnt know what climbing was and thought grit was something you put on roads when icy.
