climber magazine

i've just got this months.it took a bout 10 mins to read it.what i find shocking is the content.
theres a picture of the coultard on reticent mass murderer, which is now an off width
to prove you've done sentenial crack you have to have a scar on your thumb.[and there iwas convinced that the one on my thumb was from falling off my bike.]
then there's the bit about ukb which mentoins the dead fit birds who go climbing thread.then goes on to imply that  all that happens is that people are just slagged off on here for no ryme or reason.
its taken me longer to type this than to read the pile of shite.

yeah, maybe they should read ukc or planet fear!!

Who wrote that please? And in what context? I'd like to have words with them. This is one of the few forums where the slagging is actively moderated.

I don't buy the mags these days - waste of money.

Can I just make it absolutely clear that I had nothing to do with that reference to UKB.

IMO the standard of debate and quality of information posted on here is in a different league to any of the UK climbing forums - for that we can thank Bubba, and of course the mass of well-informed regulars.

If somebody who's got a copy can post up the name of who wrote that and the actual text, that'd be great - ta!

If one person read the planet fear forum, it would be a first. I just cant be bothered with the new format, not that it was ever much good anyway.

Coming up in the October 2004 issue of Climber!

Dave Jones is back, this time taking the lid off climbing in Portugal.

Mark Glaister goes climbing in Mid Wales and gives it a rave review!

WOW

P.S. anyone else amazed that neither of the UK mags (On The High/Climba) has grasped upon the enourmous potential of the tinternet? i mean these days the internet can either kills the mags, or it can be used by them to thier own ends (like climbing.com in the USA). take a loot at climbing.com, videos, photo galleries, articles, forums etc. then take a look at the UK mags sites. climbers is just an advert essentially, and OTE is more of the same only witha  few reviews and area reports online. pretty poor. they could be doing so much more to boost sales and stuff like that with a good site, but no.

Great, more articles by Dave Jones and more photos by Mark Glaister! All we need is an article by Chris Craggs, with Colin Binks photos and it will be perfect!

Panto, you are in a stable full of nags.

ukbouldering is much nicer than ukclimbing, no where near the amount of slaging and useless garbage to read through and more interesting.
