Down Clothing Repairs
May 19, 2016, 04:35:48 pm
Did a quick search and couldn't find a clothing repair thread, apologies if I missed it

I have a Rab microlight down coat that has a small but annoying tear thanks to hidden strand of barbed wire on a fence i.e. my fault. I contacted Rab via their website and instead of either of the 'I authorise you to repair up to £x' options chose the I'll explain my issue version of contact. Sent the email a couple of weeks ago and have heard precisely nothing from Rab; rather disappointed in a major manufacturers customer relations. Anyone else had similar experience with Rab?

Given I'm paying for the repair whatever can anyone recommend any alternative down repair services based on personal experience? Gaffer tape not an option at the moment as the coat still looks half decent (i.e. OK for the pub/street).

Cheers all.

There are a few good how to articles using tent tape think?

I bought patches from the first hit on Google and they're not great and are peeling up one month in. If I were to do it again I'd apply seam grip at the same time (sparingly).

I've used a place near Newcastle for zip repairs in the past,  they do down repairs: https://www.scottishmountaingear.com/down-services/repairs

Many thanks for all the suggestions guys  :great: dependent on cost will probably go with a specialist repair service rather than risk me fucking it up with DIY :-[

tenacious tape fixes anything if you want a DIY option that's not the dirtbag gaffa tape look. Cos its clear it will match to whatever colour is underneath.
