Does anyone know somewhere that does trigger repairs on cramming devices please?

DIY with nylon guitar string or strimmer cord. Stronger, more flexible and less bulky than swaged wire.

The image isn't working for me. Have you replaced the entire thing back to the cam or attached it to the rigid, solid section the the trigger pull? If that makes sense?

What make are they? You can/ could get replacement sets from WC, including trigger, cable and wire.

Failing that you can get mini swage kits for sea fishing.

Of they are DMM just use their repair service.  You can replace the slings too if you want them done.

They are Wild Country, but Blay tells me that they don't do repair kits anymore. I like the sound of DIY fishing swages. I'll look into that. Cheers.

Take two...

Repaired Friend 2

Replace the entire wire and rod mechanism with nylon. Tie a knot in the nylon cord and melt it slightly with a cigarette lighter to stop it untying. It's a known and effective fix.

I've done the same as Duncan with fishing line. It works OK with replacing one wire, but if you replace both it is all a bit too unstable, and the cams often invert unless you get the length and tension spot on.

I've been considering buying a tool/swages etc. If I do I'll post up on here and I can do them for postage & beer.

I made a repair connecting the wire to the little metal shaft coming out the cam using electrical butt connectors (yes i know) with a heat shrink sleeve. Worked fine for a while, but didn't last.

Apparently deep sea fishing is the place to be - they use small swages and good tools are available. I've never been all that good with those electrical ones, but I'm sure I'll be ok with cams.

Sounds like a lot of money to spend to save some money. I think fisherman are gear freaks on a par with climbers.

Totally, definitely not cost effective. It does mean I will have another nice tool in the collection though ;-)

A quick look on Ebay suggests he's right...

Might be worth a visit to a local tackle shop to check out the most suitable diameters of stuff.

There's a big angling supply store near me - might pop in and see what supplies they have. Those are cheaper than I've found so far so that could be a winner - good find!

Similar ones were £24 at the local shop so I've ordered those ebay ones. Been meaning to fix my blue camalot for ages!

If I manage a decent job I'd happily do a slow turnaround service for cost & a couple of fuckalls.

Ok folks, finally got all the bits together to fix my trusty blue camalot which has been out of action for a while. The swage and wire I replaced are on the right, the one on the left was done 5 years ago by a guy in Squamish.

Not bad for a first attempt. If anyone needs one done, let me know.

I've ended up repairing one with a purpose made repair kit, courtesy of a kind donation from Pritch, and one with some knotted picture hanging wire. The repair kit one is as good as new. The picture wire one has been tested and is fine for now. I think it may fatigue pretty quickly, but it will do until I get round to a fishing friends house. Thanks for the advice.
