Taking rechargable battery on an aeroplane

Does anyone know if one of these is acceptable in hand luggage?

I'm off to Spain at Half Term. Cheers, Si

You'll be fine.

When I flew to the US in September I took the batteries out of my camera etc. and put electrician's tape over the contacts in strict compliance with the airline rules.

My camera bag was searched on the way there but the guy didn't pay any attention to the batteries. I didn't bother with the tape on the way back.

I've flown with cameras loads of times and never bothered with the tape thing, and never had any hassle. This is the first I've heard of it.

I've flown with a smaller capacity Anker battery pack to that along with mobile phone + spare battery, a tablet, camera (SLR and point and shoot) + spare batteries for both and have never been questioned (but do get strange looks for having so much crap in my bag).

You should empty your colostomy bag before the flight?

  • Largely broken. Obsolete spares and scrap only.

I used to travel with a DPV (diver propulsion vehicle) that was essentially a torpedoed with a motorcycle battery in it, plus a spare cell and charger. I never had any trouble.
That plus rebreather and canister lights.

I don't use a colostomy bag.
