If this is true thenChristmas has come early for me.

Only problem is most people will buy 2 or 3 pairs immediately - so they'll end up stopping production again when no one buys any in 6-12 months time.

We can but hope that the new Whites will be a genuine improvement on the characteristics we love in the old Whites and not another marketing ploy like the new Pinks

The new pinks are some of the shoddiest made shoes I've had the pleasure of wearing. After 6 months they were completely ruined (normally I get a year out of my greens). I can't see the whites being any different if they're coming from the same factory

If you want quality, buy Scarpas. I've just re-soled my Instinct VS with 3.5mm Grip 2 - very nice.

Saw a photo last week of the new Instinct lace ups with Edge rubber i.e. stiffer than the previous Instrinct lace ups. I suspect they will be very popular on the catwalk and unlike Whites won't soften up in 5 mins (unless you're a 9 stoner).

Have 5.10 ever improved a shoe? They just seem to fiddle so you never know if the Dragon you buy next week will behave like the Dragon you bought last year (generally it'll be softer).

Between Nat and I we've got a fairly large stockpile of Whites all of which have been picked up for discount amounts so even if they do bring them back/reinvent them I'm happy! I still find XS Edge abysmal on anything vaguely polished. I'm unconvinced that the Verdons offer a viable alternative unless you've got weird shaped feet.

I'm on my third pair of Instinct VS's this year, the first two pairs are still in immaculate condition apart from the gaping holes above wear my big toes sit, rendering both pairs obsolete.

I clearly climb too many roofs and/or have appalling foot flagging technique.

However the boys in Llanberis said they may be able to help me out with my current pair, although I haven't got a price quote yet.

This is the Whites main flaw and should be the No1 priority in their 2017 redesign.

Mind you where's their incentive? - impermanence is good for sales.

They're quite a different fit though and a poor substitute for the original Pink; I daresay if they'd brought out a new 'Orange' people would be less fussed.

True, I went (with a few dead ends on the way) pinks, greens, velcros and back to "new pinks" and am happy but I can't really remember the original pinks to compare them to.

My rucsac currently contains both Instinct VS and old Pinks. I don't use them interchangeably, they do different jobs - very well, in both cases.

I love 'em, but that's because my feet don't seem to fit anything else. They don't seem to last very long though before thay turn into carpet slippers. I have a couple of pairs in various states plus whites of course.
