Its a Dell Dimension 5000 - Pentium 4 running at 3GHz with 1Mb RAM 148Gb HDD.

It seems to run XP ok, though the version on there doesn't seem to pass the 'genuine software' test thing 

Not really sure I want it anymore, I've just sparked it up in the first time in about 2 years.  I kept it in case I needed to run XP programs, but I've little call to do that any more.  It seems to use a fair bit of juice if left on, so not sure I want it sat running as some media server, and I'm not arsing about with Linux or owt.

Any suggestions as to how to get rid ethically.  I've got fanciful images of it being sent to schools in Africa, but I'm probably kidding myself and it'll just be broken up for precious metals by some fancy scrapie.

Any clues where to take it in Sheffield.

I was going to post asking if anyone had an old PC going spare - both our old laptops have died and the oldest child could do with her own machine for copy and pasting from wikipedia
