I understand the pay scales are basically just the way things are done, but it still strikes me as rather strange that NQTs get paid the least for doing more work - often producing lessons that other teachers rely on.
That's just life. Also, how would it work the other way? Start on a higher salary and as you have more knowledge and skill in the job (but maybe don't have to put as many hours in) get paid less? I think drop out rates might go up!
Agree about the more prep time etc bit though.
Yeah, I just think the learning curve should be eased. Prep time is prob the best way, though ideally I think there should be opportunities to have further reduced timetable and time off to go observe and network with other schools, study for an MA etc. but that's not going to happen in a hurry
