what apple programmer has decided what you WILL want.
Never really had a problem with osx only doing what the programmers want you to do that wasn't fixed by a quick google and entering a line of text into terminal.
"it just works" doesn't mean "there are never bugs", it means "you can use this without 45 minutes of editing config files, and googling for obscure and undocumented settings".
In particular the hassle free way that macs deal with backups, installing and uninstalling software and OS updates etc is almost worth the extra money in itself
Of course if you love reinstalling your OS every month, then a mac isn't for you.
Slackers - "it just works" doesn't mean "there are never bugs", it means "you can use this without 45 minutes of editing config files, and googling for obscure and undocumented settings".Having said that I had a similar problem in the past, and the link below sorted me outhttp://service.goshen.edu/support/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/116/87/ipad-or-ipod-not-showing-as-a-device-in-itunes
On the other hand, in 2010 after two months of having to use windows7 for 37 hours a week to make my living on I bought a mac for at home. In the two years since I've had far fewer problems with the mac than over any 2year period of any other windows PC I've ever had. In particular the hassle free way that macs deal with backups, installing and uninstalling software and OS updates etc is almost worth the extra money in itself. In contrast I would dread having to try to do windows updates, or trying to uninstall some shit that refuses to uninstall.Of course if you love reinstalling your OS every month, then a mac isn't for you.

after 18 months it shows no signs of slowing down/clogging up
not like some of the half day marathons I've had with PCs trying to get them to recognise a printer or usb drive
Also and more importantly after 18 months it shows no signs of slowing down/clogging up unlike every PC I have ever owned. My previous work laptop was a top range VAIO and after a year I switched it on and could go for a cup of tea and a knowing it would be still be loading up when I got back........ No doubt the more capable of us could sort this out, and I've no doubt in their hands a PC might be more versatile. For some of us though macs do 'just work'
Quoteafter 18 months it shows no signs of slowing down/clogging up .Mine does. I get the fucking wheel every time.
Cheers for the link Tom. Just about to have a play now and see what can be done.
So how about mac users providing links to the useful Mac forums they frequent when they have a problem?
