Hi all

I realise how unlikely this is but may as well ask.
I 'm working in Dundee for a couple of days next month but I 've managed to get Fri evening & Sat free,
Plan A is to check out TCA on Fri & look up old mates in Edinburgh on Sat.

However, should the weather look good ( Hmmm likely in Feb) & I'm in Glasgow... Hmm Dumby's not far
anybody know of pads for rent anywhere?

ta

Don't think so, unless TCA or AR do rentals. Maybe a generous soul might loan you one. On any dry day if you just pitch up at Dumby there will be folk there who will probably be Ok letting you use their pad if you have offerings of IRN BRU and deep fried Mars bars.

I know it's totally the wrong direction, but if you wanted to drive up Stonehaven way I have a spare old pad you are welcome to borrow. Go to Clova, closer to Dundee and better than Dumby ;)

In the event of a brilliant forecast ( slightly less unlikely on that coast I guess) I might well spring for a rental car & take you up on that. Thanks
It looks like I'll be going up to Dundee from time to time for a while so it'd be nice to check out Glen Clova.

Better than Dumby eh ?? You're a braver man than I but I must admit my last Dumby trip (many years ago) may have featured enough ned-related excitement for
one lifetime.

I'm clearly fishing regarding the better than Dumby comment, but if you prefer a circuit of good problems in a beautiful glens to hard grunty bearing down with a view of industrial decay you may well prefer it.

The "guide in progress" is here if you don't have it already

Although some recent developments have been omitted. Annoyingly, as I would like to check them out.

You have to remember that, by English standards, Dumby is a lovely spot.
How easy do you think  the Glen Clova problems would be to find if you've never been before ? Daylight is going to be at a bit of a pemium.
OTOH I'm probably going to be ok there sans pad. I'm assuming a lot less broken glass underfoot?

There are basically 2 main zones; one clustered around the John Peel Boulder; obvious and enormous boulder with half a dozen probs on, and hard to miss, plus some satellite stuff.

Then there is the stuff walking up Sleepy Hollow; more a circuit than a cluster, and needs a bit of exporing to find the best boulders; better saved for a longer session.

Plus a few outlying bits up and down the glen.

No broken glass, but a tarp or carmat might be a good idea to keep mud and sheep poo of your feet. No broken glass, but some landings a bit rocky, otherwise soft peat, OK when dry, bog when wet.

Thanks for all that. Appreciate it.
