That's pretty typical but you forgot to add that the government reasons used to justify these huge detrimental changes are as yet just political murk. When pension changes are required, honest negotiations start from actuarial detail, as yet these are not public for the TPS changes and any information that is available (Hutton, the Unions private actuarial advice, etc) seems to contradict the government view. We are being asked to pay much more, get much less and trust the government that they have good reasons. The potential losses mean that most career teachers and academics in TPS could afford to strike for two years non-stop and yet still not lose out if we win. Thats why the ATL union, one of the most moderate around, call this theft, in that its targetted taxation justifed by misinformation.
