we use to to fly to milan and rent a car. Malpensa airport is closer but bergamo was generally cheaper. not sure if this is still the same. you can also get a bus/train/bus combo from the airport. The train journey was very nice

Norton you plum a time machine would be useless it can, as it's name implies, only travel through time not space. You're thinking of a molecular transporter or maybe a teleporter. I guess the optimum would be a combined time machine/teleporter. Then you could teleport to the venue of your choosing at a time when conditions were primo.
There you go Dexter, that's your answer.

I think driving is the best option of you are going to camp and are going for >11 days, as it allows you to pack as much stuff (including cheaper food from the UK) as you want, and it's all on really fast autoroutes.  If there's a few of you going to split the costs of the fuel then it's certainly cheaper

It's not a time machine, it's a combined time machine / teleporter.

Plus, if you do manage to get there on the bus, getting supplies is going to be fully epic.

I think you need a car really.

Ideally get a van, grow dreadlocks, learn to play the didgeridoo and juggle puy sticks before you go - rinse the trust fund right out.

I have always flown to Milan and hired a car. This is not necessarily the cheapest option, but I think if you have only a week is better than a 17 hr drive (leeds - magic, 2004, not me driving).

Alternatively, stay at home and spend the money you would have spunked on a Range rover hire car on drugs and hookers. (TM Keith Bradberg)

so if I manage to get my lego teleporter working thats the best option just need to iron out the boulder mat person DNA mixing issues (its great for landing but having a crease through your body is really annoying) other than that driving is best for long trips flights ok for shorter ones?

:nail head:.  Except bouldering mats don't have DNA, but then I could be wrong again?

I think mine may have developed some new organisms from the mix of alms cliff cow shit and Rubicon grey dust. This may be the source of the new e-Coli strand... Who knows what alchemy occurs on the underside of my bouldering mat. In the back of a hot car!
