a louder PA for aged deaf gets - Lucinda read out your number plate twice to move your car. Get some new batteries for your hearing aid.
Ah, so you'll be the owner of the Berlingo then?

....and it's a Doblo I'll have you know............

You could cycle and avoid all this hassle.  In fact if more people cycled.....there would be nowhere to lock your bikes up as there's not masses of rack space  :devangel:

Oh, stop fuckin' preaching Slacker's!  I admitted my guilt several posts back and yes, i'm evill through and through.  However, let he who is without sin etc etc........

Apologies I wasn't trying to preach.   Ignoring the first sentence I'm suggesting that in addition to parking cars being problematic it is a similar situation with places to lock your bike up.

It's bad enough at the mo, but I can't see anywhere obvious where they could put another rack.

Yo G, can you clarify if we can park in that little triangular bit outside out of office hours? The parking info page on the works website is contradictory on this point.

maybe confusing but not contradictory.

The little triangular car park is out of bounds 24/7, it always has been.

It's only not contradictory because you've changed the parking info page since I posted.  ::)

NOW its clear that you can't park there, but before it said in one paragraph that you could't park there at all, but further down the page it said that its was OK out of normal hours. Glad that its been chanced to its clear.

I maintain it wasn't contradictory. Maybe confusing :)

So we changed the wording to avoid confusion.

What kind of jobsworth turns up at 10.10 pm to issue parking tickets?   Are they on commission or something?

As a community service the Works should provide a screwdriver so you can remove your plates if you have to park in its car park?  Or your bike proficiency test sticker or whatever smart-arses like Slackers have.

Who actually issues the tickets? Is it the council or a private company?

I'd be surprised if it was the council firstly because of the £100 charge and secondly because someone was issuing tickets at 10pm.

It should be noted that it is only the driver, and not the owner, who will be liable for the
privately issued parking ticket. The reason being that, under contract law, the contract is
formed between the driver (not the owner) and the private company concerned. Further, in
such a situation, there is no legal obligation on the owner to name or identify the driver.

Read the second link I posted on the last page then. Not that I'd encourage bad (or thick  ;) ) parking but I very much doubt it will be enforceable. Sloper would tell you to tell them to fuck off I reckon.

EDIT - Yeah what Dylan said. You didn't read the links I posted did you?  :spank:

I think actually the advice from pepipoo (the forums for this kind of thing) is to just completely ignore it and not enter into any correspondence with them.

The only time you need to worry is when the term "parking charge notice" is changed into "alleged debt" as thats what they have to call it to take matters further. They're still at our complex and are actively ticketing people who are parked in spaces that they own. Its not VCS at the works is it?

Having said the above; it would be nice if people would park with a little more forethought at the Works rather than the "its raining so I'll tag my car onto the others and everyone else can just deal with it" mentality .

Parking does seem to becoming a bit of a nightmare down there.

GraemeA, whilst you're on here you might appreciate a little feedback. On Friday the amount of kiddies running around was pretty scary. It must be very difficult to keep them in check, but the last thing you guys need is a serious incident (and i don't want the guilt on my shoulders either by falling off, which we all do at times, and injuring me/a kid).

Anyhow - on a positive note the comp wall is coming on great  ;D

Right John, how far away do you live from the Works, I make it 1.8 miles.

My mate Chris has just arrived, he lives in Manchester (46.4 miles away to be precise), and he came on his road bike - you have no excuse. So MTFU and get on yer bike yer southern wuss :-)

Chris not only gets a free brew but he gets a free choccy bar for his efforts.

I tell my kids that if someone falls off and lands on them then it's their ( grumpy's major and minor's ) fault for not paying attention to what's going on around them   ......

Indeed - I'm now a much more occasional visitor and have really noticed this every time I go back now. Aware there's a limit to what can be done but more than once I've been just about to slap / dyno for a hold and a kid has wandered straight underneath me, no obvious adult supervising them...

How far do you have to cycle to qualify for the free choccy as well as coffee?
