My flexibility is shocking! Does anybody have any good routines to improve flexibility?

No.

You could get a book/tips from the net, but you'll likely end up doing it wrong.  Get yourself to a class where the instructor will correct your posture/positions, continue to go to this class for some time until you have learnt it properly and then continue at home.

What classes might be good around where you live I've no idea, because I don't know where you live.

Holding the pot with one foot and spoon with the other - that's gonna get you flexible fo sure!
