Coping with PMT
December 08, 2010, 10:43:38 pm
Ok I thought I had good bloke skills in this regard but I'm finding they're as useful as dry tooling beta on the embankment, so top esoteric tips from fellow vitims please.

"Yes dear".
Hide.
Alcohol.
Or a combination of those.

These can be neatly combined by "yes dear, I'm just popping out" > head to pub.

I tend to go for complete submissivity on what is played on the TV (which enevitably leads to some vampire shit coming on) then quietly leaving the room on the premise of making a cup of tea etc..

Hence the threads plenty from u tonite eh slopes?

Hydration. Give her an early nite.. On her own... No massive meals, little alcohol. Make the kids school lunches whilst she's still in bed. Mug of tea waiting downstairs when she gets up. Go to the wall to let her watch the box set of sex in the city...

Whatever you do it's wrong (just 'cos). I make tea, its been done wrong. I try to slope of to the wall. Its not fair, as "I'll be climbing better than her". I have found that upping the amount of dairy, fish and Tofu\bean curd can lessen the "RAAAR" but inevitably not all the time. So I went just for the fish diet with the Mrs. I'll try and find my you tube notes about the fish diet, but I'm sure it's been covered plenty of times on here ;)

dear boys

have you ever smoked? and tried to give up?

that is what PMT (emotional rather than cramps of death) is like

you can feel yourself over reacting but can't help it

often the reason for annoyance is valid - but the reaction is out of proportion

- reduce reasons for annoyance
- dark chocolate
- wine
- bath
- hugs
- shit telly

for you both to know and recognize why she's acting like that (without you going "have you got fucking PMT?" anytime in the month during any argument)

for you both to know and recognize its not permanent  :kiss2:

The suggestion that her behaviour is being influenced by PMT has to come from her. Never from you.

Saying "what's up with you, are you on the blob or something?" is generally regarded as a bad approach.

Lay low, agree with everything, stay clear as much as possible. This is why blokes have sheds. With fingerboards in them. And gardens.

"I'm sorry, I think I have PMT."

"HA! I knew it all along, I just didn't want to say it because I knew you'd get grumpy!"

Yeah, the most important thing, if you value your balls, is to never, ever, EVER even suggest that it might be PMT related.   :spank:

So to summarise so far Sloper really should do the following:

  • Buy lots of chocolate for the wife
  • Buy lots of wine for the wife
  • Buy a TV for the wife
  • Fuck off down the bottom of the garden and live in a tent for a week

I've tried the buying chocolate tactic, but it frequently blows back in my face with "I'll only put on weight" or similar.  Alcohol apparently only exacerbates the problem.

I'll generally just keep myself to myself and stay out of the way/go climbing/go to the pub/post on UKB.

1) Leave the house for a few days - move into the garage / shed.

2)Exercise
3)Combined oral contraceptive pill (New generation)
4)Cognitive behavioural therapy ( yes you can get it on the NHS)
5)Anti-depressants (SSRI) just tell her they are vitamins or give her Vitamin B6.
6)Hysterectomy including removal of ovaries - with Hormone replacement therapy including testosterone if you want a sex life.

7)Ignore it, stop her drinking alcohol.

I don't know if that works across the board, it was never the case for me, I went even more psycho and not just for a few days each month.  I'll stop over-sharing now.  :-[

fuck me, a GP admitting his drug abuse / pedalling.... or planning the ripping out of his wifes's womb.. you've only been married 2 years!!!
BTW, have you taken those exams yet? Time to ride bikes / plan that trip to Font / drink beer blah blah blah....

sorry, went off topic there..... saves listening to the missus rant on about "feeling as if it's draggin out a me again...." and being adhered to a hot water bottle. :o

As for point 7, I agree... you have her share  :alky:

send the fairer half to the pub instead...  ;D

I have football, internet and beer..  :beer1:
