my brother is trying to get to the UK from Singapore... Tuesday night flight from there to arrive mid morning Heathrow... so he could be in Paris or Amsterdam for xmas  :'(

Our neighbour would love that just before Xmas. Her husband died last autumn.

At least he'll probably end up with a better class of "company" in Paris/Amsterdam than in Sheffield ;)

seriously, runways open, he's currently driving a manual for the first time in years, in dodgy conditions.. jet lagged, on the M25 - which is clear!!

In case you were thinking 'so much for global warming' check out the global temperature anomalies for Nov 10 vs 1951-80 mean.



Interesting article on how low ice extent in the arctic may be linked to cold winters in Europe. There are ice cores from Greenland which record a +10C leap in temperatures at the end of the last ice age, over only a few decades - could this be the start of something similar?

The big fear re climate change in the 70's was global cooling and another ice age.
