Stainburn... XC session heaven
February 07, 2010, 09:52:26 pm
Right guys,

this place is the dogs, right on the border of full facer & legs pads... small little wood.. handmade in the main.. not too dangerous - desperate to maintain flow. A little piece of canada ( presumption here) in Yorkshire.
I would suggest the next UKB MTB meet is here...

When dry it would be a unique riding experience, bike type not too important. Though a full on DH rig would be overkill and a hardtail a bit threatening on your fillings!

easy to repeat the descent line.. small push then amble up the road... no boring XC ascents to get to the fun of the downs.. if the FE ever let us have the hill under Win Hill then this is a model to aspire to.

Frankly I'm humbled by the hand barrowing that the activists have undertaken..

sweet.

Been meaning to go for a while - when I get a new car this is on the list as is Lee Quarry which looks serious fun.

It's very close to Almscliff. The woodland you can see to the west from the 'cliff. I think Hunter Stones bouldering is basically in the middle of the site.

aaah so thats the boulders you can see just above the parking spot, its been logged so little more open at the mo perhaps. biking was good fun, the black is a serious rock tech fest which only rewards good skills rather than the biggest forks, good early season sharpener

Just been today - some of the rock-gardens on the black route are seriously gnarly. For an "XC" venue I've never so many full-facers and pads being worn. Some of the terrain wouldn't be out of place on a DH track tbh.

Found some nice stuff on the other side of the road, and even spotted a steep boulder with some evidence of chalky hands too.

Quality and as said above, a good sharpener.
