Wanted: Beer Coat (Read 15676 times)

Smart pub coat required, must be able to cope with brief exposure to all normal weather conditions without looking too over the top!
Functional yet subtle...any good ideas?

when i was a yoot I seem to remember a lad at school had a shirt that his mum had made from bar towels nicked from pubs and stitched together. it was well jackson, and perhaps something along those lines would be the ultimate beer coat.

It's rare for me to visit pubs (w/ the riff-raff & whatnot) but when I do, I dress accordingly w/ verve & panache

This will set you back a cool 200 guineas

All the coats above have their pros... and plenty of cons.
I like the idea of the snazzy patchwork beer towel get-up and that last red number is simply ravishing.

Baring in mind i dont live in the Appalachian mountains or Transylvania, any other suggestions?

Paul Smith quality, timeless... I've had a pub/football/Saturday coat for ten years and it's seen me right on many occasions. A bit pricey but they'll last forever and still look good..

You'd be crazy not to check the yoox.com sale and asos.com

Might be worth seeing if American Apparel have any current coats out. Some nice ones last season and suave. Comme des Garcons Homme range is consistently good and you'll probably find a pearler in the yoox sale if you like what you see.

Can't beat H&M on a lot of occasions.

Wor Lass's granda apparently had an amazing beer coat. It was a trench coat into which nana had stitched loads of internal pockets for stashing bottles of Newcy Brown which were then smuggled out of the brewery where he worked in large numbers on a daily basis. He had a heart attack and his little toes chopped off by the time he was 50.

Don't know what you're looking for to be honest. Going by your original first post, this could qualify as meeting your criteria? Subtle yet functional (albeit as a she-male sorry!) Or that other pink number as posted before?

But seriously, I've not really ever bothered with a beer coat. If you're into meetin new people then sure, it's important, but if it's just friends, just wear the warmest damn thing you've got? No sense to be wasting money on a non-mountaineering/(in between bouldering) warm coat? Spend the money on a new pad or a few lapis brushes / chalk? Or even..... Climbing gear?

I once found a thing on the net of some guy who'd made a suit out of silver gaffer tape, it was awesome. If anyone can find that image I'll wad you handsomely.
