Stephen Ireland's tasteful new motor

Quality - apparently he had his R8 done up with red and white trim and had so much pisstake from his team mates he changed it to white and blue... best quote of the article

"He's thought of absolutely everything. The other soccer Wags will be jealous for sure when they see Jess cruising around.'

Yeah, I read that stuff a while back about him deciding to step his game up after the 8(?)-1 defeat at boro and thought he must be a sensible lad.  boy wa si wrong.

i like the way the publishers have blanked out the number plates, like there's any mistake that it's his car.

Just to say that all this football league stuff is all very fair and well but spare a thought for the minnows...the mighty Blyth Spartans travel to Salford City tomorrow night in a bid to qualify for the FA Cup.

Last year we got as far as round 3 before being knocked out a mere 1-0 to Blackburn Rovers, let's hope this year is similarly successful!

Steve Bruce was the pundit on ITV last night and there was so bull about whether becks would like it in the north east. Bruce reckoned Becks wouldn't be bothered but Posh would hate it

In a Steve McLaren style I think it would have been better for Argentina to have failed to qualify for this tournament so they could have got rid of Maradona. From an England supporter's point of view, it's genius. Watching the meltdown unfold next summer could be truly hilarious.

It's true that they have qualified despite Diego rather than because of him. The crazy little fucker.

There is no way that Maradona should be dismissed - he is a one man quote machine if the summary of his a post-match interview is even half true - can you imagine the havoc he is going to wreak in SA?

Tim Vickery's blog is always worth reading for a general view on football from South America.
