Surely good "as new" is a relative statement when the said piece of equipment belongs to you!!

After counting the midge bites from wharners... which took a good while.. I have to say the *new wave* tracks there now such as No Human are utterly mad.

I have never seen the like. I've forgetten  just how damn hard a training ground wharners is.. there is soo much more than fastrack jump spot et al...

i need to get there more thats for sure! i cant do half the stuff i used to there... such as Nemba with a reasonable speed...

a truly humbling experience.. :(

will be my prefered bike venue for a good while i reckon!

have you ridden the new track past the end of nemba etc? ride up the hill towards the crag and you'll see it crossing the track. The top 200yards is a rock garden and the gap jump is scary.
saying that at least the wharny tracks are rideable, I went to scratchmere yesterday and spent most of the day taking the chicken runs, or walking.
steep and techy!

Going to look at this new track the next time I go - Space Monkey did the big double on Sunday, it sounds large.

I need to start working No Human properly and stop farting about on the brakes :)

Is Scratchmere pretty hardcore then?

there are 3 tracks, about 9 variations and I had to walk/chicken run at least 1 section on each line.
If you go expecting something like cwmcarn you'll be shocked. We were lucky to have a mostly dry weekend, as it rained for the last run which made things even harder. Maybe it was the hangovers but I'd say its as hard or harder than the new wharny tracks.
We got 12 runs in with a fairly chilled out day, so you get plenty of riding.

I'm up for that providing my rota allows - I can't wait to have no useful time off. And my knee should be fully rehabilitated.

Glad you enjoyed it Jon - a very fun venue, can't wait 'til they get the rumoured 2nd track built.

I love the section where you go through the tunnel then drop down steeply to the big series of steps and chicanes.

<edit> and the bottom drop off the wooden bridge which just feels great !

Did Space Monkey do the Quarry Jump?

Luckily he was ok, but it ended his day riding.

Had my first taste of the Cannock Chase downhills yesterday  :bounce: didn't have much time so just did The Red Runa a couple of times.  Knowing that some of you chaps are Cannock veterans, what should I try next?  Obviously not up to the harder stuff but tried a couple of the harder options on TRR without killing myself.  So, what would be the next step?

- ridge run

then red in to black ( at the big berm, you can jump out of it and it ends you up and the box drop

We tried Wonderland next to the Ridge Line, bit of a mud fest at the moment so baled.  Did the black option on TRR as far as the big drop off the North Shore, didn't fancy the look of that first time!  Thanks for the info, will be going back for sure, there's some fun to be had.

Heads up,

DH holiday planning for the beginning of 2010..

last week in jan..

long weekend /  midweek break.. will try with dhspain.com once big G confirms...

3 days riding planned, dont see any point in trying for more.. as I always get too tired to recover.

tracks not as long as the alps, nor on the whole as fast, but they are more tech / narrow with better traction on the whole.. uplifts are fast compared to say cwmcarn. It would be common to miss out one every 5 to have a breather!

I'll be sorting this mid august after vacance en famille... anyone else interested?(I'm not paying for a deposit unless I have your cash in my hand, sorry ) Have a look on DHspain.com & search them on youtube..

We're aiming for a cheap as hell hotel / self cater on the seafront, near the cheap supermarkets & bars.. no frills, but I do know you can uplift all day long, 10 hr days (with lunch break) are the norm... and it's warm, and it rarely rains.. and there are no french (breaking bumps)... 15 min transfers. Sets you up good for the start of the year, reckon I was riding June standard by april, just coz of the number of runs done in such a short time period. IMO thus time and money better spent than Morzine... (though i do miss the place!)

would suit any bike from 140mm aggressively built AM to 200mm DH bikes..

full facers a definite need, I also will be in full armour, though the *kidz* were less padded..
