In Brine - Crux Hold
July 06, 2008, 07:56:15 pm
I was at Raven Tor today and a Polish chap gave me the crux hold (his words not mine so not sure which hold it is) of In Brine that had fallen off when he pulled on it yesterday. He didn't think he'd be back at the Tor for a while so asked if I would post to see if anyine wanted the hold to glue it back on. It loooks like the hold has probably been glued on before, based on the amount of glue (araldite?) on the back of it.

Anyway, e-mail or PM me if you're feeling public spirited / desperately want to do the route and are skilled in the art of hold reconstruction

In terms of quality repairs JonBoy is the man and he has a tube full of sticky stuff at the moment ;)

I'd quite happily confirm it's geometric accuracy :wank:

I'm happy to say I haven't a clue where it would fit on the route, but I can stick it on if someone marks the spot.

I suspect this might be the 'sugar cube' hold which is just before the shitty, conditions dependent LH sidepull, if memory serves. It was glued back on at some point last year I seem to remember.

The sidepull I'm on about is in the middle of the crux between the 3rd and 4th bolts I think but I ain't been on it for a while so might be wrong.

I'm pretty sure that Stu L glued this back on before his missus crushed it

I got an email from Robin today about this. If the hold is covered in glue it's almost certainly the sugar cube. Jon - I'd be glad to show you the spot. I can't remember who glued it back on but it wasn't me.

It held long enough, anyway....
