off to europe for 3 months, starting in font, then to south france to surf for a week, where do people think would be best to head to after, spain or italy we will be off to the alps sort of way at the finish. looking to boulder,but will have a sport rack and bikes. any help or advice would be great.

i'd switch font with the alps. you want to be in the alps now, with hopefully sunny weather and in font with fresh temps, maybe in late september.
in general i'd manage to get some precise weather forecast and choose according to where the best is. this may require a bit of driving, though.

And if it's surfing you're after I'd switch south of France for the South West.  The Med isn't best know for its surf compared to the Atlantic.

also, if you're in italy or south of france and want to surf, go to the weast coast of sardinia at any given north west (mistral) swell, the bigger the better.

Thanks for advice so far people, we bit stuck with font for first week, also meeting up with freinds to surf in Hossegor, whats the crack with Italy this time of year, looked about on the net and the bouldering looks fuckin' mint worth a long stay? also thinking the swiss may be a bit sweaty by the time we get there so may unleash the bikes. ps we not 8a crushing machines, but not punters either if this makes any difference.

summer bouldering in italy is not as good as winter bouldering, but totally worth a visit in my opinion. you can find all you need (in terms of info) here http://www.alpboulder.com. i highly recommend sella pass bouldering, for power recruitment between long multipitch routes or sport chuffing, or as the main menu as it should be.

agreed  thats were im heading this summer, and pickford put up a load of DWS round the santander area aswell and all along that coast, so you got it all

we have just came back from the alps (magic) which apart from 2 days rained the entire time.
we went back to font and did mornings and nights which seemed fine as at least we were climbing.


ill just add, it rained for 4 days before we decided to depart as we couldnt bare it any more.
below is a list of climbable problems in magic woods the rain: (in order of dryness)

bruno bloc - never ending story (part 2 more than part 1 as if the river is high then it gets badly sprayed.)

fight club - 7c

sofa surfer 8a -  very good line which stays relatively dry, might be slightly moist on the higher holds if its heavy rain
down under 7c-  right next to sofa surfer, an over hanging bloc sheltered from the rain but does drip if waterlobbed

roof of darkness is normally dry apart from the lip (top out) when it rains.

practice of the wild is also worth checking

if its not as heavy rain, then these problems could be on:

Blown away - 7b

supernova - 7c - also on the bruno bloc

pirranah might dry if the sun is on it ( if your lucky :[  )

this is just from what we found and tried after endless hours sitting playing shit head in the hut waiting for the rain to stop.

in the end it was that bad rain that we had to retreat back to font.  but magic is defionatly one of the best places ive been.  even if the walk ins are slightly sketchy in the rain as i found out on the first day as i fell off the path.
