Don't laugh! I know it's not exactly the right time of year but will be near Paris next week for a few days and want to get a quick Font visit in.

What's a good area where there's lots of low / mid grade stuff that might be suitable for such sweaty weather. Preferably nice landings as I might not have a pad with me.

Also, I've been told that the kids circuits can be a right laugh for a non-climber to play on and was thinking along those lines for my girlfriend - any ideas?

Cul de chien has got a nice blue circuit and bo landings, but its a proper suntrap so avoid it like the plague.

You aught go and do the orange mountain circuit at cuisiniere when you've got the chance - 6 kilometers of scrambling, jumps etc.

91.1 has loads of nice easy problems but again can be very hot.

I dunno if childrens circuits would be that good since they are often on very small boulders, the kind an adult would probably reach the top on, plus you'd look a tit.

Now that sounds like a right laff - what's the best guidebook at the moment (apart from the 7+8 too hard for Bubba guide)?

Well hello again ya 'all - tsk, away for a week and only about 10 new posts!!!

Anyway, due to some evil mofo misinforming me that we we would be staying south of Paris when in fact we were staying close to Dieppe    my Font games were not quite as expected. However, since I had lugged my kit all the way over I was determined not to be foiled. It was 3 hours drive from the cottage to Cuisiniere and when we got there it was almost too hot to move (France is undergoing a month long heatwave).

After a bit of searching we found the "mountain circuit" and what a laff it was. Didn't have time for the whole thing, but did about half of it. For anyone going in the future a lot of it has been repainted with yellow markings, but confusingly, not all of it.

Anyway, it served it's purpose well. Selina was initially very sceptical "I'm not enjoying this..." etc and was becoming quite anti-bouldering but by the end she was smiling, enjoying herself and said that now she understood the attraction of bouldering. Cool. Great little circuit, and would be a fine rest day activity.

Never been to Cuisiniere before and I was gobsmacked - what a beautiful place with a vast variety of problems - I'll be back this winter.....

The other thing that surprised me was the amount of boulders that appeared to be unclimbed (dirty and mossy) at the top end of the place. I mean, these weren't iffy boulders by any means and there were some good looking things to do. Do the locals just not bother coz it's too far to walk or have they been done before but just got overgrown again?
