Bens Wall - Curbar
December 03, 2007, 02:56:02 pm
Nipped over to Curbar last Thursday and took a little trip to see Ben's Wall in person - it's friggin' massive!

Has anyone here sent this problem?

Does everyone top out, or is dropping off from the pocket considered satisfactory?  (I suspect I already know the answer to this )

i think you're supposed to slink off up/left to the arete, i don't think the true top finish has been done. though the arete is often very damp/mucky looking.

Yeah, like dave says, from the pockets up left to the shoulder on the arete then a bit of scary teetering on lichenous rock.

I had a couple of goes, but (like GCW) was wondering if the finish was out to the left, or that dropping off was acceptable.

Dave, Is a direct finish even possible? Looks horrendous!

I'm sure its possible, it just hasn't been done.

This probably doesn't need spelling out but dropping off isn't ok.

Quite right, it's not West Side Story.

Does Ben Moon not top it out on Hard Grit, or is that what you guys are describing as 'slinking out left'?

If I remember you sneak out left, but it was a long time ago that i did it and my memory is not what it used to be.

Yeah the way Moony does it in Hard Grit is the accepted method.  Is there a top out for Great White?

Eh? To quote the guide "travesing off from the jug at half height, is exactly that"

Doesn't sound like my idea of fun, I'll be satisfied without slinking off left to the lichenous pitch.

Sorry, I mistakenly felt the winking smiley was superfluous.
