Lakes tradding this weekend (Aug 8 - 10th)
August 06, 2008, 05:20:35 pm
I'm thinking of going tradding in the Lakes this next weekend (August 8 - 10th). Anyone know what condition the higher crags are in - I.e. are they soaking wet at the moment?

Was in the Lakes last weekend and very wet it was too - rained every day at least once on the East side.  >:( Pavey Ark was looking grim on the Sunday (didn't even bother to drag the rack up there after rain in the morning) and the forecast for the Lakes on MWIS (opens up as a PDF) is not looking promising either. Friday is listed as being dry but then Saturdays forecast is a picture of deteriorating weather and Sunday is not looking overly good either.

bluebrad's considered opinion is to stay at home and spend the money you would have spent on campsites\petrol\random gear that you don't want on beer and hookers!  ;)

Weather this weekend is looking shite, but I'm off up there anyway. Was there last weekend in the rain, managed to get some easy stuff done in the mountains (Grey Crag, Buttermere), and some cragging that was quicker to dry (Castle Rock, Thirlmere). Depends if you're going to have a good time climbing Diffs and VDiffs in the rain. I did!
