Little crag near Alton
July 24, 2006, 11:24:43 am
Happened across a nice little crag when I was on the way to climb at Wrights rock. I was driving from on the Leek to Ashborne road, turned right at the Winking Man Pub. Passed that place with the wicked arete project on the right, kept driving and took a left turn and there it was. Nearest village was Money Stone I think.

it was in a field with some Asses and a Pony

About 20 worthwhile problems and solos. 2 problems I didn`t do0 one of them is a amazing arete- right at the RH end of the crag.

definitely been climbed on before, but just wonder if anyone else has appreciated it.

Only from the road. Thought there were some access issues?

A few farm vehicles passed by, but no one complained. I didn`t ask if I was allowed. Definitely worth an hour. I have got to go back and try that arete. Most of the crag has lovely soft landing. There is also a brillant jamming crack- classic.
