15 years ago as an angry yoof I'd prolly have said Tiger, but since I'm mellowing nicely these days I have to go down the Sheep route - being a Tiger can just be so much hassle, and really, all it means is getting your name in the history books, something which just doesn't bother me any more.

Also, Tigers usually die some nasty, painful death on  a stick.

I've always wanted to be a sheep.

From a purely aesthetic point of view - I would have to be a tiger.  You don't get many people going "oooooooo" at a sheep.  Tigers have got to be more intelligent too, considering a sheep's brain is the size of a satsuma.  Definitely a tiger.  Unless I'm going to be hunted and shot of course  :?

For sheer volume of years. As a sheep you could train yourself up over 1000 years,. By age 999 you could have any tiger-easy.

having seen the kinds of terrain sheep can cover (if you've ever driven through winnats pass) I'd go for sheep. Plus there'd be pleanty of fit Ewes well up for some action.

Oh yes, Tigers are much nicer to look at, but I think The Owen was referring to Tipu Sultan's famous proverb when he was talking about repelling the invading Brits, which he managed for 20 years:

A double attack was launched on Tipu's capital from Madras and Bombay. Tipu refused to explain for the presence of the French soldiers and acquiesce to the further demand of half of his territory, with several other ignoble reparations. He replied, bravely: "It's better to live a day as a tiger than a lifetime as a sheep."

God, I'm a pedantic twat

Yeah, but tigers can climb trees. Did you see that MRO callout about some Spanish students who'd got stuck on the steep grassy slopes of Winnats? I pissed myself when I read that.

And plenty of farmers and disaffected youths.

Having been a man of the world for 26 years now I have come to the conclusion that a brain the size of a satsuma would be an advantage.

Ignorance is bliss.

Damn right - I'm sure life would be much easier if all I did was sit about drinking spesh and wondering where my next giro was coming from.

I read something cool yesterday? Oscar Wilde, "I'm not young enough to know everything!"

Oooh, I like that a lot - very true, especially after spending a weekend with my sister's 3 kids!

Quote from: "the owen"
I would have said tiger a few years ago, and thought anyone who thought otherwise was daft!  Has to be sheep for me now though.

Most people "mellow" with age or take less risks - is this part of nature, or is it just the fact that those who don't mellow, don't make it past their youth?

Well, to be pedantic I'd have said I was being more pedantic, not less.

(Or something like that)

I'm only jealous that you knew the original quote and I didn't.   Humph.
