New Thorn Crag Problems
January 23, 2006, 11:56:47 am
Did a couple of new problems at Thorn over the weekend, the best of which is this...

Outer Reach Fnt8a (Been trying this a while so its nice to finally nail the sucker!)

I have sent beta/location details of this and the other problem to yorkshiregrit.com so there should be more info on there soonish for anyone who might fancy a dig.

Looks nice Greg. We were just walking up to bad moon as you were coming down. Is this the bloc on its own past sea view?

ps I pulled the big undercut off the new problem left of bad moon rising. There is still some hold left but is very crumbly. I personly blame the 3 people that did it before me (ie Greg, Clm & Worm) for the strain on the hold and has nothing to do with my massive belly!
also Don't recon it was anyway near V5 put propably is now

I that were me.

Yeah its about 350m past the Seaview Boulders just up to the right of the track.

RE Broken hold problem: I thought that hold felt a bit touch and go. Not a very good problem just a filler-in really.

Did you do Bad Moon, Mothership, Latest Trick etc?

Yes, I did it last winter.

Beta: RH on poor brushed slopey edge, LH on poor brushed slopey dish, LF on the highest point of the brushed foot rail, RF heel on marginal smear. Pull-on and slap up with your LH to the furthest left (but best) of the two parallel edges. This is the crux, although I fell of the next move twice before doing the link as its still pretty tricky, you have to counteract the barndoor affect of letting go with you RH by opposing your RF against a brushed smear (level with your left knee), before slapping up (RH) to one of the numerous good-ish edges on the lip, finish direct. Probably a bit more info than you were after but hey ho.

To be fair it is Natural Grit though. And I think it's probably a one-off.
