Cosmic Joskin repeats Quintesence...

Strong Welsh scruff bag Dave Noden made fast work of Quintesence at Toms Roof on Saturday.  This ascent is the latest in a rapidly growing love affair with the place, and, as I'm sure we all agree, who can blame him?  Well done that man.

It certainly is. I dont think that prob gets much attention and I'd warrant hasnt been done much since Quent who succeeded on the last go of the day apparently. (fascinating)

what exactly is quentessence? I have 3 different guides to tom's cave (OTE, Rockfax + Ru's), all with different holds for it. I'm guessing ru's is most likely to be right but going for the jug with your left seems silly.

Sorry guys, it is "Quintesence" NOT "Quentesence". 1st ascent made by Pete Curtain, not Quent.

Ru's guide, and hence my bit is spot on the money. The cross through is indeed the move. Not quite SHAFT as the crux has no footholds.

cheers

conditions were shit up there when we got up. most holds had gone black with moisture, the holds on this problem were sopping. I think cos it was getting cooler and that fog was coming in we were getting moisture condensing on the holds.

In which case, "Quintessence" would be what you are looking for, or at least that's how it should be spelt.

When will you guys learn to spell?

you remind me of one of the guy's at uni who thought he was smart. alway's pulling the lecturers' up on their spelling. the last day he did it, to a professor no less, 40 min's into some proof saying "sir, you've spelt that wrong". professor stop's the lecture, admit's that spelling isn't one of his strongpoint's that fractal's, however, are. invite's said annoying twat to finish the lecture. it doesn't take a colossal mind to finish the end of that story.

For some of us, primary school and spelling tests where a long time ago, and our brains have filled with other trivial crap since then.

For you they must feel like yesterday.

Don't tell me. A giant Crow flew in and pecked everyones eyes out, then went through everyones pockets and stole all their loose change?

Tom's Roof is half-way up Stoney Middleton. I can't give you any more details as I have never been.

Tom's Roof is, at the highest, is an acquired taste.

Imagine the old Avon toilets with a few violent smack head rent boys but a worse landing and you're half way there.

possibly 300 times. Whilst an acquired taste there are some gems to be had up there, spelling and giant crows aside.
