Not officially supposed to even park there, but have never had any problems sleeping in the Cresciano car park. Once the farmer woke us up to get out of his trailer, didn't seem to bother him. It gets pretty full on weekends, but during the week is nearly always empty. There are big fines if you are caught wild camping. (Get caught doing anything in Swiss you soon realise why its such a nice clean place!) Not sure what the deal is with vans, but lots of Italians and Germans turn up park and sleep there every weekend. Chironico is a no stay zone, have stayed down the road under the big motorway flyovers, but wouldn't recommend it.
