Get me outta here
January 07, 2005, 06:24:19 am
Monday is gonna be a day i've longed for for soooooo long.....

Basically i'm two out of the three job interviews i've managed to arrange recently down.

Interview One - which i thought only went so so - has come back with an offer thats both more money and better work (although in a bit of a specialized field - mostly natural terrain hazard assessment and landslide investigation)

Interview Two went a treat and, as soon as they've finished speaking to all the other punters they'd agreed to interview, we'll see what card they can lay on the table (work would be varied in this one with quite a bit of time stuck down tunnels blowing up bits of rock etc - which i quite fancy doing for a while)

Interview Three is in about two hours and has the potential for including all the work described above with one of the most reputable firms in the trade....

All of which means that come Monday i'll be handing in my notice and out of this shithole they call an office - only downside is that my current 2 minute commute to work is gonna go up to somewhere between 30-45mins stuck on a crowded train...

which also means i'll finish here just before chinese new year and should be able to bag a week or two's climbing between jobs - sweet.

Sounds good - who's interview three with?

Looks like geotechnical work is picking up again in HK??

1 was with Maunsell
2 with Jacobs Babtie and
3 with Ove Arup

basically they said they just need to clear the package with Senior Management and the jobs mine at todays interview - which was nice (it helped that i know one of the interviewers quite well - all that time networking in the past seems to be paying off)

just need to see what No. 2 comes up with now....

Right on! Which one's the best for relocation when you finally split the HK ex-pat scene?

they're all pretty good to be honest - and all have got regional stuff in Asia to work on too

at the end of the day though - Arups have the slickest operation and the highest number of hot totty in the office....
