Coquibus - Roche qui tourne/ Montignotte
November 10, 2011, 11:33:16 am
Does anyone (Neil maybe?) know how quick drying/ sunny these areas are? I've never been to Coquibus before but'd like to find somewhere a bit quieter for the bank holiday weekend than the usual honey pots.

Any other suggestions welcome.

montignotte hasn't got too much cover, so may dry pretty quick, but I don't think its that high.
this is good.

That's a bit out of my league , I was more looking at the 6A/B slabs such as Zip/ zape etc.

Apologies. It is a lovely spot though, and will catch the sun so should be good on a clear day. the track to the parking is fun though...

Cheers! I just need to keep the missus warm enough to not mention 'IKEA'. Come to think of it, where is the parking? There seems to be one indicated next to the wood, but I thought you parked on the road to Arbonne.

yeah it's next to the wood - from milly take the first right off the D372 at a layby after you go through the wooded section, onto a bumpy dirt track across the fields. follow it to the end, at a gate by the woods. The blocs are a few hundred yards further on.

qui tourne is super fast drying, there are two sections to it, loads of problems, check this http://bleau.info/rochequitourne/topo157.html

Just like to say that it's a lovely little spot. Good for chestnuts too. I'll be going back soon.

Not sure if anyone's been recently ( Ghisino?), but the way in via the layby is/was shut. I don't know if this is permanently.

Does anyone know the quickest alternative way in? Not sure if it's possible to park on the route de Courances and walk across the field or if there's a fence blocking this entry.

Yes the layby is shut but unfortunately i don't know any alternative way. All northern coquibus sectors are now a looooong walk...

Cheers. I suppose it was getting a bit busy for whoever owns the land.

had a look to the maps on geoportail.gouv.fr

it seems that the best way now is to park on the road that goes from courances to arbonne la foret.

should add 500 meters to the walk ins

I'm sure I remember there being a high fence with possibly barbed wire seperating the original parking from the walk in across the field from the Courances/ Arbonne road. At least it'll be quiet at the weekend.  :2thumbsup:
