It is quite likely. Most year they don't pop up till sept/oct but due to the unseasonal dampness have been out since July this year! It has been a good year for all species of fungi infact, last year was terrible. Funnily enough i'm off foraging for edibles on Chatsworth estate this evening. I'll post up a picture or two if i find owt special.

If they look like miniture tits on stalks, ie they have a definite nipple type thingy then they might be.

The forage wasn't that successful, but we did find a huge Chicken of the Woods which will be gracing my table tommorow.

 Other stuff found:

A fair few Stinkhorns (said to be aphrodisiac, hmmm I wonder why  )

A few other oddball things like this Stagshorn fungi.

 Here's one from last year:

The highly hallucinogenic Fly Agaric, this one found on the approach to Froggat.

Do you know if you can eat algarics by peeling their skin and then boiling them in milk? (The other way I've heard of is feeding them to deer and drinking their urine).

Cheers

Aye, similarly never tried them- but I've heard that they are more rushey than visual (prob. a bit like Philosophers Stones?). Word.

I've heard similar but couldn't really add to that. I'm sure there is a host of advice on the net.

Mmmm Porcini, you can't beat a simple fresh Porcini rissotto with plenty of shaved parmesan and fresh ground pepper!

Nice!

They really are ace- the taste, texture (especially if you don't eat meat)- and are beautiful to look at too to boot!

It's hard to tell from the small picture. Was it attached to a tree? If so it looks like a type of bracket fungi.

Thanks to the piss wet summer the shrooms are out up at Bridies.  Or at least they were 10 days ago.  For some daft reason (wishing to climb or something stupid) I didn't pick any, but defo quite a few liberty caps about inthe usual spots.

Will have a look in Roger Phillips when I get home. What kind of pore producing structure were there on the underside of the caps (gill, pores or spines)?

Haven't got a clue. In the middle of the pic, just hidden, was a green bit that seemed to be part of it, but looked like the stamen of a flower?

scary shit.

one time me an a mate got pissed on brandy :? and ate half a bag of these fucked mushrooms some one gave us (looking back it wos stupid as fuck cos we didn't have a clue what they were :? ).
it felt like everything was gan in slow motion and it felt very dreamy. it was spring and about dusk and quite magical to be honest with all the birds singing and all the mist and flowers and trees around us (we were in a park). then we went home and i learnt a valuable lesson.

DO NOT WATCH FANTASIA WHILST FUCKED ON MUSHROOMS. WAY, WAY TOO TRIPPY.
